Description

The photographs probably tell you much of what you need to know but here's a bit more detail.

This high quality rifle is chambered in .300 rook, as shown on the barrel engraving, along with the Army & Navy London signature on the top flat of the barrel.

According to the Army & Navy records, this rifle was originally purchased by W.H. Hall (Esq) in 1907 and was finished by W & S (Webley and Scott).

The action still has the original case hardening which is bright these photo's haven't been enhanced and the rifle has not been refinished. None of the screws have been messed with and so no chewed heads.

The action is engraved as is the rebounding hammer. The rebounding hammer has a strong spring and holds in half cock and full cock as it should.

The stock is made from a top quality piece of highly figured wood (walnut most likely) and is in good condition as the photo's show. The stock is inlaid, possibly in silver, and has no cracks or splits but does have the odd mark as can be expected for a rifle over 100 years old.

No rust or corrosion showing on the barrel - the blueing is in excellent condition. The barrel has the three sights, two folding and are engraved with appropriate distances.

The bore is bright but not without some discolouration but in line with expectation of the age of the rifle. Unusually, this rifle has polygonal rifling similar to that found on rifles with Henry rifling. This may have been a special order.

This rifle is complete with case including the original cleaning rod and original case key. To have one of these items is rare, but I've never seen both included in a sale before.

The case is whole, not been altered or repaired but faded on the outside. It could be sympathetically improved should you wish but I prefer original. The case even has the original Army & Navy Stores label and the interior shows good colour.

This rifle is being sold as an antique and obsolite calibre rifle and would make a great piece to add to a collection.

You don't tend to see many of these for sale, and when you do they are usually very rough or have been converted to modern calibres.

I am happy to ship (at cost tbc) via RFD for security if face to face is not possible.

Lots more pictures available on request. Just let me know what you'd like to see. Please email as I am rarely near a phone.
